Household consumption

Here you assign the integrated devices according to the topology of the house installation. This assignment is crucial for a functioning energy management and the correct balancing of the energy flows.

Primary meter

The primary meter in the sense of energy management is the meter that measures the total power consumption of the household and, if applicable, also the feed-in to the public power grid.

The position of the primary meter indicates the installation location in relation to the feed-in point of the PV system and the consumers in the household.

Between the grid and the PV system

The installation location of the primary meter is between the feed-in point of the PV system and the consumers on one side and the public power grid on the other.

Primary meters installed at this point must work in both directions, i.e. record both consumption and generation.

Variants supported by Manager flex:

  • SOLARWATT AC sensor bidirectional meter: Consumption and generation are recorded together by this device. The reading of this meter must be done via a battery system.
  • Bi-directional meter Shelly3EM: Consumption and generation are recorded together by this device.
  • 2-direction three-phase meter KDK PRO380-S: Consumption and generation must be assigned to the corresponding S0 input of the socket on the manager.

Select the variant corresponding to the house installation from the drop-down menu.

Between mains and consumers (consumption meter)

The installation location of the primary meter is between the PV system and the household consumers.

At this point, the primary meter may only record the electricity consumption. When installing S0 meters, ensure that they are installed in the correct direction. The feed-in resulting from the PV power generation is calculated by the manager flex.

These setups usually do not include battery storage.

An S0 meter serves as the reference meter. Select the S0 meter according to your house installation from the drop-down menu.

Assignment of the devices

In this setup step, the installed devices are assigned according to their installation location in relation to the primary meter. Correct allocation is a prerequisite for correct balancing and functioning energy management.

By default, all devices are
assigned totheNon-balanced
category after they are installed.
To change the assignment, click Change device assignment and assign the device to one of the following categories.

Devices covered by the primary meter ("on the house side")

Criterion: The installation location of the device is "house side" from the primary meter.

The consumption or generation of all devices installed on the house side is recorded collectively by the primary meter.

Devices not covered by the primary meter ("on the mains side")

Criterion: The installation location of the device is between the mains and the primary meter. The devices are recorded by the utility meter.

The consumption or generation of these devices is not recorded by the primary meter. The devices are read by the manager flex. Thus, they are included in the energy balance of the house consumption.

Non-balanced devices

Criterion: The devices are not recorded by the EVU meter.

The consumption or generation of these devices is not recorded by the primary meter and is not part of the energy balance. Typical for this configuration are fully feeding PV systems or devices with their own tariff, such as heat pumps.
