The 100,000th installed solar power battery is the MyReserve from SOLARWATT. Thomas Bareiß, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and Carsten Körnig, Managing Director of the German Solar Industry Association, ceremoniously dedicated the storage system in Eichwalde near Berlin on Tuesday. The home battery complements the existing photovoltaic system of a single-family home. This means that the residents, a family of three, will be able to use more solar power themselves in the future.
"The figure of 100,000 shows how great people's response to green energy is," says SOLARWATT CEO Detlef Neuhaus. "Instead of waiting for the fossil fueled grid power to deplete, they simply generate their own electricity – clean and environmentally friendly."
"The economic potential that battery technology has for Germany should finally be clear. German battery manufacturers have become global technology leaders with innovative products such as our MyReserve," continues Neuhaus. "Though Germany lost the international lead in standard PV module production to Asian manufacturers, we now have a second chance. This growth industry should be left unhindered by any regulatory bottlenecks which ultimately cost jobs. The PV industry today alone provides more people with work than the hard coal and lignite industries combined."
100,000 puzzle pieces for the energy revolution
The battery was installed by meinStrom.de, a brand of the SOLARWATT partner Sybac Solar Berlin GmbH. Since 2014, the family-owned company has been systems for self-consumption in residential and commercial buildings in Berlin and Brandenburg. "We are clearly seeing the growing interest in batteries which our customers use to complete their PV systems," says Dr.-Ing. Sigmar Kapitola, Managing Director of Sybac Solar Berlin GmbH. "There is no reason not to use the solar power from your own system yourself. It is not only more environmentally friendly than electricity from the outlet, but is also becoming more cost-effective. And with support programs like '1000 Batteries for Brandenburg', many customers are finding it even easier to make their decision. Together, we are moving the energy transition forward step by step."
